The Flint Institute of Arts is the second biggest art museum in the state. Visitors can experience over 8,000 pieces of stunning art. They have a variety of African, Asian, American, Native-American, and European art. 

They also have film showings, concerts, talks, and family events at the arts center. The Flint Institute of Arts was created in 1928, and it moved to its current location in 1958. It is on the campus of the Flint Cultural Center. The art museum is free to Genesee County residents. 

The Sloan Museum focuses on the local history of the county and the automobile industry. The museum is named after General Motors CEO Alfred P. Sloan, and it opened in 1966. It has more than 400,000 historical artifacts. You can see some amazing car-related neon signs! 

They have over 100 vehicles in their collection including many cars with historical connections to Genesee County. There is a section dedicated to the Flint strike at General Motors which helped create the modern auto labor union. Children younger than one don’t require tickets. 

For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum is a 383-acre nature preserve in Burton, MI. The preserve has several trails through lovely wetland areas, woods, and open fields. For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum was created in 1970 by Genesee County. The arboretum has over 150 species of trees. 

The Forbes & Martha Merkley Visitor Center has educational exhibits and live animals. The parking lot has handicap parking spaces and a paved pathway to the visitor’s center. Check out the enclosed, public treehouse at For-Mar Nature Preserve!
